Gippsland Line - Preserved Overhead Section

The Preserved Overhead Section is just three spans plus a nearly intact line side power station, on the Melbourne side of Bunyip. In December 2012, the overhead wrecking train was photographed as it passed through Bunyip. The train is shown just west of the level crossing in Bunyip.

Mobile crane loaded aboard QB wagon hired from the South Gippsland Tourist Railway. In front of the crane is the gas cutting equipment. The wagon in front of that holds the dismantled stanchions.

Rear shot of the QB wagon showing the mobile generator that supplies lighting power for the operation. In front of the QB is the wagon holding the dismantled stanchions, then a tank car full of water in case of line side fire, then a crew car and finally the T Class locomotive.

Slightly wider shot of the train, in the distance can be seen the preserved 3 span section of overhead, with the brick sub-station to the left.
